Father’s Day Fun: Check Out CMoR’s Newest AdditionsPosted: June 15, 2012
The Children’s Museum of Richmond is continually adapting to bring wonderful opportunities to Richmond area families with age 10 and under kids. Children are the center of attention at each of the Museum’s locations where little ones have fun while exploring what it means to be a kid. With the latest additions at the Museum, this Father’s Day weekend is the perfect time to visit one of its three locations with Dad.
Just last weekend the SplashMoR exhibit opened in front of CMoR’s Central location on Broad Street. Families can chill out and cool off in this new dancing water feature that will have your kids squealing with delight. You may want to bring a towel and a change of clothes, but can you imagine a more perfect time for a child to spend with Dad on a beautiful summer day in Richmond?
Extended Hours at the Central Location
Families can enjoy more time than ever in the Central location this summer. Extended hours run daily through Labor Day. Consider an after work visit as this location stays open until 7 p.m. The new Front Yard even includes a shaded picnic area. Bonus: the 3rd Fridays of each month are Target Family Nights. Admission is only $1/person if you and your family are not members, and the Museum stays open until 7:30.
Grand Opening of CMoR Chesterfield
This weekend the wait for a Children’s Museum in Chesterfield is over. CMoR will hold the Grand Opening of its great new space on Hull Street just in time for a Father’s Day visit. Check out the full-size fire truck and lots of other exciting exhibits in this fabulous new facility.
Though our family is well outside CMoR’s target age range, we continue to be impressed with how the Museum has grown and thrived, and our daughter is fortunate to be volunteering there this summer. Under the tireless, creative and energetic leadership of our remarkable friend, Karen Coltrane, the Museum has become a model for children’s museums across the nation as CMoR builds strategic partnerships to bring programming to the various populations throughout the Richmond region. Lucky are the Richmond kids and Dads who get to enjoy CMoR’s constantly evolving offerings this Father’s Day weekend. I hope that yours is filled with joy and at least remembrances of squeals of delight from your former little ones.
P.S. Happy Father’s Day, Dad! I love you!
